Summary

[Virtual tour] All aboard a historic vessel as historian James Russiello virtually leads us around the perimeter of Staten Island as seen from the water. You'll launch from Manhattan's Pier 66, venturing down the Hudson until the breadth of the Staten Island coast reveals itself. Richmond County is an island; its waterfront, both celebrated and secret–hidden in plain sight, is always waiting to be explored more than just the famous views that most New Yorkers and tourists cherish from the decks of the Staten Island Ferry. Each landmark will be discussed and investigated with historic photos and research through only the way a virtual tour can reveal. Along the way, we'll pass the world-renowned Staten Island Boat Graveyard, historic lighthouses of New York bay, 19th century forts, Revolutionary addresses, floating dry docks, arguably the country's first suburb, decaying 19th century shipping industry buildings, the world's largest landfill-turned-public park, an island once visited by Theodore Roosevelt that shares one of the city's only three land borders with New Jersey, pass under famous bridges and finally pass by a prominent tower named for a Roman Catholic cardinal, a former priest of the structure's parish. The tour will even throw in some New Jersey sights across the Arthur Kill for context.

For all tours, there are no refunds, cancellations, or exchanges unless we cancel a tour. Online registration closes one hour prior to the tour start time.
