Summary

Pigeons (Rock Doves) are indelibly intertwined with NYC. From their introduction in the 1600s, pigeons have found ways to thrive in the largest city in America.
I will lead a walk along Central Park South from the William Tecumseh Sherman Statue on Fifth Ave to Columbus Circle (limit 15 people) that will show where pigeons live their lives, look for food, and sleep at night.
I will discuss the 8,000 year history of the human-pigeon connection, pigeon anatomy, feather variations and behavior.

We will visit many pigeon haunts, including Grand Army Plaza, the Plaza Hotel, the Pulitzer Fountain, and Maine Monument.

I am the author and photographer of "The New York Pigeon" editions 1 (2018) and 2 (2024) from powerHouse books. I am also a certified wildlife rehabber & wild bird transporter. Binoculars or a camera & telephoto lens recommended
