Summary
Join our walk to explore Long Island City’s waterfront, which is facing both climate-related flooding and an influx of luxury housing. Learn about LIC's industrial past, public waterfront land, environmental challenges, and community visions for future development. We’ll start at Queensbridge Houses, the nation's largest public housing site, and walk down the coastline to Hunters Pt. South, passing landmarks like the Terra Cotta building, a Con Ed facility, and the Anable Cove habitat restoration area. We’ll also visit the sites of competing proposals near Anable Basin, ending at a city-owned site slated for future development. Wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen, water, and a hat. Snacks provided.
