Summary

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure, known as ULURP, the City’s public process for reviewing major land use decisions. With the current housing crisis, high cost of living, climate change threats, COVID-19 recovery, and increasing economic uncertainty, New York is a very different place than it was in 1975.

Given the critical role ULURP plays in affecting city development, the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS), American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York City Chapter, and American Planning Association (APA) New York Metro Chapter have teamed for an important discussion on the effectiveness of ULURP in today’s land use and planning environment. Please join us on Tuesday June 3, 8:30-10AM at the Center for Architecture for A Closer Look at ULURP.

The panel includes Tom Angotti (Professor Emeritus of Urban Policy and Planning, Hunter College), Vivien Krieger (Co-Chair Zoning, Land Use & Development, Cozen O’Connor), and Angel Mescain (District Manager, Manhattan Community Board 11). Tom Devaney (Senior Director of Land Use and Planning, MAS) will be moderating. AICP and AIA certification maintenance credits will be available.
