[In-person tour] In the mid-1800s, a large immigrant population from what is now Germany settled on the lower east side of Manhattan, in what was called ""Kleindeutschland,"" (""Little Germany,"") and is now known as the East Village. At one point, New York had the 3rd largest German-speaking population in the world, after Berlin and Vienna. Join historian James Russiello to learn more about this often-overlooked immigrant group, their influences on New York, and what became of them.
