In the shadow of "250", DOWNTOWN FLUSHING bears witness throughout its Historic DOWNTOWN FLUSHING MILE to what came before that benchmark date and what followed. DOWNTOWN FLUSHING is where the daily struggle for freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of the press (that were crucial to the War for Independence) was waged, and lives lost. DOWNTOWN FLUSHING is America's micro crucible of the hallmarks of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Let's explore five Landmarks within the DOWNTOWN FLUSHING area and discover how the past lives beyond History into the moment. The five structures will be ST. GEORGE'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, QUAKER MEETING HOUSE, OLD FLUSHING ARMORY, FLUSHING TOWN HALL and LEWIS H. LATIMER HOUSE.
