Event Registration

We will track the route of the northern end of the 9th Ave El, which in 1940 came to be known as the Polo Grounds Shuttle. Some remnants are plainly visible; some hidden in plain sight and some not so easy to spot. We will examine the impact of transit access to the Highbridge area of the Bronx, which rapidly developed from woods, marsh and farmland to a suburban community, and then to an urban community. We will climb hills and stairs during this walk.
