Summary

Since September we have engaged in a special tour series examining the mayor's plan to undertake a series of rezonings throughout New York City. We looked at pending rezonings during the fall, but from January through June we will turn our attention to rezonings that have already been enacted, and try to see what the impacts (good, bad or neutral) have been so far and what city commitments have been kept. The New York City Council approved a wide-ranging rezoning for the East Harlem neighborhood in November 2017, as well as the 750,000-square foot, mixed-use Sendero Verde development. This rezoning plan covered a 96-block area from East 106th Street to East 138th Street. Join Laurence Frommer of The American Planning Association New York Metro Chapter Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Committee as we try to see what has happened since the area was rezoned 2 years ago.
