Wear comfortable shoes for a walk around the historic, planned community of Jackson Heights, a Garden in the City. This in-person guided group walk will introduce visitors to the Historic District of a Queens neighborhood only 25 minutes from Manhattan. Led by the neighborhood’s unofficial historian, attendees will learn about the area’s history as a planned community intended to attract those fleeing urban crowding and sanitation challenges in Manhattan in the 1920s, and its evolution to the rich town-like neighborhood it is today. Learn about architectural innovations and community planning, while getting a taste of international cuisine, from everyday snacks to traditional dishes, and more! Bring water and have your camera handy for the many visually stunning features and vibrant life you will see only in Jackson Heights!
