Event Registration

Downtown Manhattan might be the center of the world, but much of that center is landfill. Let’s explore where the shoreline of lower Manhattan used to be, before land was added to the edges. We’ll travel back in time on a 1.5 mile walk from what was once the western edge of the island, around the southern tip, to the eastern edge. Along the way we’ll stop at spots that give us hints about the former shore and talk about stories from the area’s past too. The walk ends at South Street Seaport where walkers can visit the shops and eateries, extend their hike along the current waterfront, or walk 10 minutes to nearest subway at Fulton St station. Wear comfy shoes and bring water to drink on our “edgey” walk.
