Join us on a jaunt with author and historian Francis Morrone through Staten Island's fascinating Rosebank neighborhood, a largely Italian-American community that, more than any other place in New York, evokes Italian village life. We will see the extraordinary Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which may be the greatest example of folk architecture in the city, and we will conclude at the Alice Austen House, a historic house with a rich, multi-layered architectural history as well as a museum dedicated to its onetime occupant, Alice Austen, who was a pioneering New York street photographer.
