Summary
On our walk, father and daughter amateur architectural enthusiasts, Gerry and Isabel Kagan, will take you on a roughly mile-long circuit around the Wallabout/Clinton Hill area to show you some of the best existing examples of wooden row housing our city has to offer! We will show you how to identify modified wooden buildings, show you historical photos alongside existing examples to give you a better idea of how our city might have looked 100 years ago and highlight what we lost when we covered the wooden façades up. We will also discuss the dangers still posed by wood-frames as well as how new renovations tackle the historical look of wooden buildings.
