Summary
[In-person tour] Starting in Gramercy, join architectural historian Matt Postal for a walk through what realtors call "Rose Hill." Added to Manhattan's grid in 1832, we’ll stop and consider a remarkably varied collection of 19th, 20th and 21st century structures on or close to Lexington Avenue, from mid-19th century brownstones to the present day. Likely highlights include the often-unnoticed home of 21st U.S. President Chester Allan Arthur, an impressive former powerhouse built for the short-lived Lexington Avenue cable line, the Art Deco-style Domestic Relations Court Building, and the just-completed Korean Cultural Center, a sleek and striking work by Samoo Architects.
