[In-person tour] The Upper East Side’s Carnegie Hill is chock full of elegant historic architecture that once housed New York City’s gilded age families. How did those urban palaces survive? On this tour, Ginny Poleman will tell the back stories of how these mansions are mid-20th century examples of adaptive reuse. Highlights include Andrew Carnegie’s mansion, today’s Cooper-Hewitt Museum; the former Otto H. Kahn House transformed to the Convent of the Sacred Heart; and the former Warburg Mansion, now The Jewish Museum.
