Summary

In the mid-1800s a large immigrant population from what is now Germany settled on the lower east side of Manhattan, in what is now known as the East Village. At one point, New York had the 3rd largest German-speaking population in the world, after Berlin and Vienna. Join MAS's own Ted Mineau for a walking tour of some of the architectural treasures that remain from Kleindeutschland ("Little Germany") and learn more about this often-overlooked immigrant group, their influences on New York, and what became of them. Cost: $30 / $20 Members
