Summary
[Virtual] Charles Pierrepont Henry Gilbert doesn't receive the same attention as his architectural peers: Charles McKim, Stanford White, Thomas Hastings, and John Carerre. But Gilbert has designed some of the most elegant and impressive mansions in Manhattan: the Ukranian Institute; the Jewish Museum (former Warburg Mansion;) and the Joseph deLaMar mansions now the Polish consulate. Known as the "lacy" architect for his elegant and detailed carved facades, C.P.H. Gilbert is worth a deep dive on his life and extensive designs.
