Summary

Jackson Heights and Corona are two of the most diverse and liveliest neighborhoods in the city; this energy requires acts of care. The many unique small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and public spaces woven throughout the neighborhood and long its major corridors contribute to and support the community’s many cultures. For the 34th Avenue Open Street Coalition, the vendor market at Corona Plaza, and The World’s Borough Bookshop, what does it mean to center the borough of Queens, and specifically the communities of Jackson Heights and Corona in their work?

Please join us on Friday, September 20th at The World’s Borough Bookshop from 5:30-7:30 PM for an Enduring Culture Happy Hour; bringing together community leaders to discuss how culture manifests in many ways throughout the neighborhood, including through knowledge sharing and public space activation.

Speakers include Adrian Cepeda, owner of The World’s Borough Bookshop, Sunny Hendre, Corona Plaza Market Manager, and Jim Burke, co-founder of the 34th Avenue Open Street Coalition.
