Summary
Beginning at St. Mark's Church in the Bowery: discussion of historic significance of The Bowery, St. Mark's, its graveyard occupants including Stuyvesant. Indicate original 2nd Ave Deli location, Ukrainian immigrants & Veselka. Proceed to Stuyvesant Street & Copper Square: Cooper Union & The Cube. Recent additions of residential and Cooper Union building (former engineering building). Proceed to The Public Theater building and Colonnade Row remaining buildings. Return to south of Cooper Union and spot where one can see 150 years of buildings from The Cooper Union, the Standard Hotel, new Thom Mayne Cooper Union Building and The Village Voice. Proceed to Great Jones Street to Fire House. Tour ends at Bond Street to discuss the historic context of the elite on Bond then to the notable 4 modern residential buildings.
